WELLINGTON, New Zealand — World Cup-winning All Blacks fullback Israel Dagg has retired from all rugby at the age of 30 because of a knee injury.

Dagg played 66 tests and was a member of the All Blacks team which won the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand. He also played more than 100 Super Rugby matches for the Crusaders and Highlanders.

In a social media post on Friday Dagg said that "due to an increasingly painful and unfixable right knee my rugby days are over."

Dagg described his decision to retire as "bittersweet" and said he is looking forward to new challenges.
