May 24, 2018

RIJEKA, Croatia — Decades of rust are covering its hull, the furniture is broken in its once luxurious salons, its powerful engines are permanently idle. But against all odds, the iconic yacht that once belonged to the late Yugoslav strongman Josip Broz Tito has been given a new lease on life. The once-imposing ship that hosted Hollywood celebrities, some 70 world leaders and took Tito up the River Thames for a historic meeting with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill will be turned into a floating museum. The ship, called Galeb, or Seagull, is moored at the northern Croatian Adriatic port...

18 acquitted in massive Brussels Airport 2013 diamond heist

May 24, 2018

BRUSSELS — Five years after a brazen multimillion-dollar diamond heist on the tarmac of Brussels Airport, a Belgian court on Thursday cited a lack of evidence as it acquitted 18 suspects in the case. The massive 2013 theft, in which tens of millions worth of gems were stolen from the hold of a departing Swiss-bound plane, had all the hallmarks of an "Ocean's Eleven" operation. And it still might still get a Hollywood ending. One other person, suspected of being the mastermind, will hear his case in court later. "It is a great result," said defense lawyer Nathalie Gallant. "The...

Schwarzenegger said: "Those of you who resist because you can't imagine success without fossil fuels: we ask you to join us. Everyone. Also you, President Trump: Join us." He added: "You said ... you want to have so...

ROME — Italy's anti-establishment 5-Star Movement and the populist, right-wing League appeared headed to forming a government Wednesday after ex-Premier Silvio Berlusconi, whose party is a political partner of the League's, said he wouldn't get in the way. Berlusconi said in a statement that his Forza Italia party would not support a confidence vote establishing a 5-Star-League government, deeming the 5-Stars too immature to govern. But in a valuable go-ahead, he said Forza Italia wouldn't prevent the League from trying. The developments over the course of a few hours Wednesday provided the biggest breakthrough in the nearly two months of...
